The man who designed a rocket pack is now working with Apple. Marc Newson, a famous Industrial Designer and Johny Ive’s long term friend is now set to help Apple focus even more on the attention to detail. Ive and Newson have worked together for some of the (RED) products earlier for charity, and now, they’re going to be working on some commercial products, according to Vanity Fair.
The org structure is that Newson will be working under Ive’s team of designers, for the future Apple products. Newson is also considered to be the best hire for Apple, since he has experience designing time pieces in the past. If Apple is working on iWatch, then he would be very instrumental in influencing the design of the device.
It is also reported that Newson will be based out of London, and will make sure that he is constantly in touch with the team, by flying frequently to Cupertino.
Apple is a company known for its attention to detail and design of its products. And I can’t imagine the amount of thinking that would have gotten into hiring new talents for the design team at Apple.
