How BSNL, India’s largest telecom provider built their website for just $27

Well it looks like even the government is undergoing some budget cuts! BSNL has a new website, and they built bought it for just $27. They’ve used a popular theme from Themeforest (called Metronic – Responsive Admin Dashboard Template) and it doesn’t end with that.

Just a few minutes of digging around, we found that a lot of stock images from the theme were still being used on the live site. What’s sad is that these images don’t have any relation to the telecom industry.

And what’s even more astonishing is the use of a popular cloud storage company’s logo for their “Complaint Booking” section. Improper use of a company’s logo is a serious legal issue.

We don’t know who developed this website for them or what the engineers at BSNL are up to! There are lots of media agencies and digital creative agencies who could’ve pulled this off with as little as a scratch. We hope other government divisions learn a thing or two about online presence.

Peace!

Update: 1:09AM IST. We are not able to access the site for some weird reason. May be it was taken down.
