Google has recently announced that the first ever social networking website and brainchild of Orkut Buyukkokten will officially be shut down and usage will not be possible from 30th September. The departure of Google’s social wing VP, Vic Gundotra, earlier this year might have been the preview of the rather mellowed show put up by Google+ at this years IO followed by this news that will bring sad expressions to all those early twenty first century teens. Though there was no official statement at the recently ended conference Paulo Golgher, engineering director at Google, said in a blog post.
“Over the past decade, YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off, with communities springing up in every corner of the world, because the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut’s growth, we’ve decided to bid Orkut farewell (or, tchau).”
