Pranav Mistry, Indian Computer Scientist the head of Think Tank Team and Vice President of Research at Samsung. He is well known for his remarkable work on SixthSense and Samsung Galaxy Gear. His research interest included Wearable computing, Augmented Reality, Ubiquitous computing, Gestural interactions, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Vision, Collective Intelligence and Robotics. World Economic Forum honored Mistry as one of the Young Global Leaser 2013.
This young Indian champ is ready to give up his job and come back home to work with Narendra Modi.
Mistry, VP at of research at Samsung and head of its Think Tank team based in Silicon Valley said to Economic Times,
I am waiting for him to pop the question… and ready to say bye to my lab.I am keen to serve one-sixth of the world’s population where the miracles of science and technology would multiply manifold for betterment of mankind.
Mistry has been a Modi fan boy for now, and now the esteem is reciprocated.
I cannot remain without mentioning the team, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sam Pitroda made that served the boost for India’s Telecom revolution in the 1980’s. Modi has already many credits for his versatility towards Internet features, say social networking or a Google Hangouts Modi has marked his presence.
As Cm of Gujarat, Modi has widely recommended Mistry’s TED talks on Sixth Sense and even issued copies.Their first meeting was in 2011, where Mistry was an MIT student and he addressed Modi’s cabinet, district collectors and school children.
He doesn’t have a political aspiration, but just that he is impressed with Modi’s scientific bent of mind and approach to governance. Mistry added,
We would discuss ways I could get involved more actively in this service to our nation… I am keen to help him in whichever way I could.I have poor people skills and I cannot become a minister. I (am more suited to a role) as an advisor to the PM or to the science and technology ministry.
A job in New Delhi among political background would be a far-cry from his current profile, but Mistry believes that opportunities lie in challenges and added,
I am working on exciting projects that enable me to effect change at the industry level. After my work at Samsung, the industry is talking about wearable (technology). Had I wanted, I could have set up my own company, secured funding and made money. That proposition, however, does not excite me since it would be a very self-centric goal. If I get to be here (in India), I see myself in a role of bringing change to lives of the masses, which is far more satisfying (than being an innovator).
When Modi took Oath as the PM of India, Mistry congratulated and tweeted,
Today is a new beginning. A day when India gets freedom from dynasty politics. A day of hope and dreams. Jai hind. @narendramodi
