Just after Apple’s HealthKit announcement, Samsung followed the lead with Sami. And as we expected, looks like Google is also working on something along the lines of making people fit and data hungry. The company is expected to launch Google Fit, a new service that will collect data through different APIs.
Google’s annual developers conference is scheduled to happen on June 25th in San Francisco. While our team will be there at the venue to provide everything that you need to know, we learn that Google is working on a new service called Google Fit. The new health care service will help the Android devices collect data from a lot of different APIs, allowing apps to share this information with each other.
A source close to Forbes also revealed that the Google Fit will have the ability to allow a wearable device to measure data, like the steps, number of hours slept, and your heart rate. The service is also expected to sync with its cloud based servers to keep tack of the history of a user.
While Apple had its developer sessions under the wraps until the keynote got over, Google has been open in its own way. There are some developers sessions that are aimed at the wearable technologies, which could open up the stage for topics like Google Fit and much more than that.
Heath industry is not something new to Google. The company had a failed service called Google Health, that aggregated users’ data to its servers. The reason for the failure was that the users were not comfortable sharing their data to be aggregated.
Our prediction is that Google might want the Google Fit to work closely with the Android Wear, the new platform that the company released for wearable devices, earlier this year.
This is all that we have to share with you right now. But hang tight, we are bringing in live information from Google IO 2014.
