Google captures Street Art

Google Cultural Institute’s latest venture is The Street Art Project. Here amazing street art is put up on a digital wall for the world to admire. The project launched Tuesday with over 5000 shots of everything from building-size murals to tiny stencils on the pavement. The street art is captured by Google’s Street View cameras or submitted by artists and cultural institutions. The service then stores it in a database searchable by artist and location, and presents it online before the art disappears.

And with Google’s Street View technology, you can even tour inside 17  of the world’s most acclaimed art museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMA in New York, The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Tate Britain & The National Gallery in London, Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
