Nokia isn’t Finland’s only protege, it’s got Rovio under it’s wings too! Rovio is the company behind the Angry Bird series, the game of the smartphone era that went viral. And now the game company takes inspiration from the 8-bit retro game, Flappy Bird, to create Retry for iPhone and iPad. A similarly styled game with one objective – don’t hit the walls.
Retry is intended to be as hard and irritating as it’s inspiration, no matter how hard you try to steer the loop-de-loop plane straight, it always has a tendency to crash. However, Retry tries to function more like a typical sane game, you can land the plane at base points to unlock a level if you have enough coins, control the speed of the plane to a certain extent, go backwards to collet coins (innovation right there!), and even moving walls.
Rovio writes in the app description,
From the guys sitting in the room next to the guys who made Angry Birds, comes RETRY – a game so hard, so addictive, so old school that you’ll think you’ve stepped into an 8-bit time machine and gone back to 1986. Totally rad!
Which game do you think Retry is going to live up to? Angry Birds of Flappy Bird? Let us know in the comment section below.
Retry is only available for download in select countries such as Finland, Poland and Canada right now. Stay in tune with 4CAST to know when it’s available in your country too!
