The latest tweet by Tesla Motors is sure to bring smiles on the faces of environment enthusiasts. Their supercharger network has supposedly delivered 5.8 million kWh of energy. The tweet goes,
#WattsUp: Superchargers have delivered 5.8 million kWh of energy, offsetting 664,359 gallons of gas.
Now 664,359 gallons is a huge number at a time when fossil fuels contribute to most of the worlds’ electricity needs. This feat has marked another milestone in Tesla’s journey following the opening of the 100th supercharger station last month. The Model S, an all-electric sedan, can charge itself at these supercharger stations in as little as 20 minutes.
Pioneers in Electric car manufacturing, Tesla is a company that has been thriving hard in its ultimate battle to reduce the carbon footprint and provide free rides for the people without shelling out huge sums from ones wallet. It has also been mentioned that all the energy that powers the Superchargers are from a solar carport system provided by SolarCity. With 86 SC’s only in the US and 14 of them in Europe, the massive increase in gas offset might lead to more number of takers for the electric cars and possibly a better future.
