This is the new Google’s Self-driving Car. And it’s super cute.

Google has announced a new Self-driving car today, which is a two-seater super cute vehicle that has no steering wheel, and breaks. The car can travel up to 25mph and is probably the most basic futuristic piece of gadget till date.

During the Code Conference by Re/Code, Google’s Sergey Brin announced their new Self-driving car, that has no steering wheel and breaks. The car don’t need a human to control it at all, and is completely autonomous. All that the passenger needs to do is to just sit and enjoy the ride.

Google also revealed that they have built a hundred prototypes of this car, and the functionality of the car is very basic. The company has restricted a lot of features that a regular car would have, for quick adoption with different use-cases. The age where you have imagined a car that can drive automatically with just a push of a button is here.

Sergey also revealed that the cars have been restricted to travel only up to 25mph considering the safety and other factors for these prototypes. The sensors that come with this car is completely advanced, that they are capable of detecting obstacles up to two football fields away, giving it the ability to drive like a good human driver in cramped streets.

Here’s a video of Google’s 2014 model Self-driving car:

The inside of the car is very minimal and basic at this point of time. With no fancy seating and luxury. Of course these are just prototypes, and the chances that Google is moving into the automotive industry is pretty bright now.

Talking about this new invention and prototype, Google says:

“We’re going to learn a lot from this experience, and if the technology develops as we hope, we’ll work with partners to bring this technology into the world safely,”

Google might also partner with companies like Uber and Lyft to take this car to the next level. Where the manager should just give the input for the car from his office, and the car drives itself to the pick up point of the passenger.

This will not be the car that you will see on roads in the hands of the customers. Google admits that it still has a lot to learn, and will put it in the hands of the customers only when it is confident about the product. And this will be a huge risk that Google would take if its running a pilot program with the customers right away.

We still have a few more years to go before we could see this car on sale in a showroom.
