India’s Largest Gadget Show bringing Technology and Users Together

India Gadget Expo (IGE) serves as a platform for all the technology related fields. The event is spread across four days in the month of June and includes seminars, exhibitions, presentations and business networking opportunities. The Expo paves way for young business minds to collaborate and also brings in a variety of events.

The Seminars to be handled by industrial experts and a platform for the retailers to bring in their gadgets for exhibition, hitting the big crowd and hell-a-lot of ideas for the industrial minds in the form of presentations.

IGE is scheduled to happen from June 19th to June 22nd at the HITEX Exhibition Center, Hyderabad. You can register here.

In an interview with 4CAST, Mr. KV Nagendra Prasad and Mr. Srinivas Perisetty, spokespersons for IGE, let us know the scene behind the stage.

The idea of India Gadget Expo is cool. How did it all start?

The idea occurred to us during a casual discussion (with Sanjeev Kumar, who was then setting up a chain of gadget stores in Bangalore called the Fiftgear World), we realised that there is no meaningful platform for the gadget industry to converge and connect annually for meaning engagement, most companies participate or visit international events like the CES, Gadget Show, Mobile World Congress, etc. Being the market India is, we felt there was a great opportunity to create such a show for India. After detailed research and planning we came up with ‘India  Gadget Expo’.

This is a huge show that attracts people all over the world. Do you think you have had a significant influence on how tech events happen?

Yes, these events attract a lot of people all over the world. Like the Auto Expo does for the automobile industry, we want India Gadget Expo to do it for the gadget industry i.e. create excitement amongst the Indian consumers and build aspiration for useful and innovative gadgets. We have knowledge about similar tech events organised globally and we aim to position India Gadget Expo on the global map as well in coming years.

How crazy it has been to plan and organize this event? Pulling off a four-day event in India is such a pain.

Yes, it requires long and detailed planning, bringing in various stake holders like the media company, communication design agency, conference managers, PR agency, etc. apart from forming a core group of technology professionals to guide us in our efforts. It is a 4-day event with a difference, as first 2 days are exclusively b2b with Super Seminars, Presentations, Expo, etc. where in we are inviting industry professionals, trade & channel partners, media, enterprise customers, etc. while last two days are opened to tech enthusiasts & media.

How has the reaction from Indian developers been? What kind of crowd comes in?

Reaction has been very positive, most of the Indian companies complemented us on our efforts in creating a B2B platform for the gadget industry. We do not want general public to come in hoards to the event, we want to filter the audience so that meaningful interactions can happen between them with the exhibiting brands. If I were to put a number to it, I would say about 30,000 people could come in over 4 days. We are also covering the event live on our website (www.indiagadgetexpo.com) on all the 4 days.

How would you compare Indian Gadget Show to MWC and CES?

These shows are our inspiration, soon we will have India Gadget Expo counted amongst the best global events.

How have you promoted the event? What kind of ad campaigns did you use?

We are using conventional and new age media to promote the event. The event is being promoted on a national scale in Print, PR, Television, Radio, Outdoor, Digital, etc. We are sending personal invites to trade partners, industry professionals, enterprise clients, tech enthusiasts, etc. Social Marketing media promotions have yielded very good response. We have also partnered with Indigo Airlines for discounted air fare to visitors apart from using their channels for the event promotion.
