You can now watch Earth Live in HD via ISS’s Livestream

NASA has done something that many people on this planet always wanted. Which is to take a look at our very own Earth from the outer space, anytime they want. Now, NASA has placed a HD camera in the International Space Station that is orbiting over the Earth and the live feed from the camera is now available to the public for viewing.

NASA calls this the High Definition Earth Viewing (HDEV) experiment, which consist of four cameras that have been attached to the ISS facing the Earth. These experiments are run for HUNCH (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware) program, that acts as the outreach program for the students from 9-12. This is not all, the students who are participating in this program were also responsible for designing this camera that is facing the Earth.

Unlike any other camera, the HDEV’s cameras are not the normal camera that are available for the general public. These cameras are controlled with various parameters and are constantly exposed to the Sun’s radiation, without getting damaged.

The camera is designed to point our Earth all the times, through which we could get some breathtaking images of our planet. The handshake between these cameras are yet to be perfected, causing some signal drops whenever there is a switch in the camera.

If you are keen in watching how our Earth looks right now, here’s the link you should be clicking right now.
