Photo Craze Never Ends!

Does popularity and how cool you are matter? The Internet generation loves to be the talk of the town and being popular is one of the most important parameter considered.

There is no person in any of the social networks without millions of pictures of themselves. Instant uploads have now become fun and sessions of photoshoot go around the world to get the most number of likes and hearts for their picture. What if this is all part of an algorithm?

A scientist of Indian origin at the MIT has developed this new algorithm that would predict how popular your photo would come around in the Social Site even before you upload it, that’s actually the meaning of predict 😛

Aditya Khosla, a Ph.D candidate at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, analysed 2.3 million Flickr photos to isolate the factors that make a photo popular.

The Algorithm actually takes into consideration how many followers does a user have, length of the title, number of Tags on the photo. It distinctly measures the texture, color, gradient, objects present inside, contrast , effects used and gives an output.

Information heard also reveals that a tool is being made to make edits to a photo automatically in order to make it more popular. The algorithm relatively measures on a scale of 1-10, where 1 indicate a lower rating and is in increasing order.
