With the rapid progress in illicit decryption there is a continuing need for safer security schemes , or in other words, harder to break encryption schemes. This time around its a biological mechanism, happening in every one of our bodies all day long , that has inspired the encryption technique which will make it almost impossible to break the code. Cyber criminals and spying Government agencies can no more break into secure information. Banks will now have safer environments and business deals can remain top-secret.
Inspired by the time-varying nature of the cardiorespiratory interaction a team of physicists at the Lancaster University, United Kingdom have come up with an encryption method that will be highly resistant to conventional attacks. Unlike the earlier procedures this one results in an unbounded number of encryption key possibilities, similar to how our heart and lungs interact with each other.
The research was conducted by researchers Dr Tomislav Stankovski, Professor Peter McClintock, and Professor Aneta Stefanovska. The patent also includes Dr.Robert Young from the department of Physics. Dr Stankovski said,
“Here we offer a novel encryption scheme derived from biology, radically different from any earlier procedure. Inspired by the time-varying nature of the cardio-respiratory coupling functions recently discovered in humans, we propose a new encryption scheme that is highly resistant to conventional methods of attack.”
The interaction between our heart and lungs is actually a set of “coupling functions” and the interactions are encrypted at both ends that is at the sender and receiver end. The same logic has been worked upon by the scientists to come with their newest communication security technique. They further added,
“The number of coupling functions in use will always be finite, depending on the specific number of information channels that are needed; the choice of forms available for the coupling functions (forming the private key) is, however, unbounded.”
Differing from the current situation these coupling functions send and receive multiple encrypted signals at any particular instant thus generating endless possibilities of encryption keys. This definitely has the potential to make it almost impossible for the all the cyber criminals out there to crack any decryption code.
