Apple and Samsung Electronics since 2012 have held a series of ongoing lawsuits, focused on design patents where Apple.Inc won a $1 billion judgement. Now, Apple is back in U.S court with Samsung this week,suing the Korean software maker for $2 billion,this year’s infringement claims are related to specific software features within iOS. However majority of these software features are found widely across the Android products-not just Samsung products.

“System and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data “
Apple was granted this patent back in 1999. This is the feature displaying links of Addresses,dates,phone numbers and time in text messages.
For instance, if you get a text message from your friends asking to meet at 10 a.m , simply by tapping the 10 a.m you can set an alarm or create an event in the calendar app. Similarly tapping the address information in text message will take you to Apple Maps.
“Asynchronous data synchronization amongst devices “
This patent allows synchronization of information across various devices while in use.
For instance,you could change/edit your event settings in the calendar app which automatically the changes are made to the synced tablet or laptop.
“Universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system“
Ever recall searching for something on your iOS devices with the option to search Web or Wiki? This is that. It allows the device to simultaneously search local content as well as content on the Internet.
“Unlocking a device by performing gestures on an unlock image”
In other words “slide-to-unlock animation” on the lock screen.Last year,a German court invalidated any claims related to Apple’s “slide-to-unlock” patent ruling that the patent lacked the necessary technical innovation to be granted a patent.
“Method, system and graphical user interface for providing word recommendations”
That’s auto-complete. Apple claims that Samsung’s auto-complete method is much similar with their own.
As you are typing,iOS automatically completes the word on hitting space bar wherein Android devices offer selection of words where you can choose from.
