The Magic We all Wanted- Instantaneous Charging

We all have a bond that is way beyond the other chemical bonds with our mobile phone. I am completely disabled without my phone, which seems the case for most people around the world. Since the smartphone introduction charging of phone has become a routine once every 10 hours of usage. It takes about 4-5 hours for the battery to be 100% charged.

Overcoming this timing issue was a big deal, which is now said to be achieved by the Israeli company StoreDot  which demonstrated their product idea at Microsoft’s Think Next symposium. The company works with nano particles and this achievement was said to be done by the usage of special particles called the NANODOTS. This technology doesn’t end up with the smartphones, but also extended to tablets, laptops, inverter, automobile batteries. This technology is said to achieve its expected result within seconds (i.e) The smartphone battery is said to be charged within 30 seconds.

IDEA: A Nanodot battery makes use of  peptide molecules that helps enhancing the capacity of the electrodes and the electrolytic performances.

StoreDot’s Nanodot is the first bio-organic nano crystal ever discovered. Only 2 nanometers in size, these multifunctional Nanodots are bio-organic peptide molecules that change the rules of mobile device capabilities.Inspired by a biological process of self-assembly, StoreDot Nanodots are the core of this novel technology…

Until today, other fast charging ideologies also included similar method wherein the usage was heavy metals which were found to be highly expensive and toxic.

If this technology is proven to be a success, the idea of future is said to have a 90 degree change in its views over electronics. This company is still trying to patent over this technology. The CEO of StoreDot,Dr. Doron Myersdorf said

The fast-charge battery is the result of our focus on commercializing the materials we have discovered. We’re particularly pleased that this innovative nanotechnology, inspired by nature, not only changes the rules of mobile device capabilities, but is also environmentally-friendly.

Once charged the battery behaves like a normal lithium-ion battery and the discharge ratio is also similar to our normal battery discharge. This battery is also said to be reliable and cost efficient. The company is planning to produce the product in large units which is expected to be available in the market by 2015.
