Faith in Humanity Restored!

A young boy who complained to his mother that he had no friends to celebrate his birthday with has had almost 900,000 people wish him Happy Birthday on Facebook.

Eleven year old Colin has a sensory processing disorder, similar to Asperger’s. This disorder affects his social skills and makes it sort of hard for him to make and maintain friends. His mother Jennifer, from south of Michigan, made a facebook page called “Colin is Eleven”, urging people to wish her son on his birthday, March 9.

The page has accumulated almost 900,000 likes in less than two weeks. Her campaign has seen the page flooded with messages and good wishes for her boy. Not only wishes, kindergarten schools in Mexico are making cards for little Colin and sending them to him on a PO Box Jennifer set up especially for receiving cards and messages for her son’s birthday.

Colin himself is not aware of the campaign as yet. His mother has made sure this remains a surprise for him until the 9th of March. Despite having been on TV for the huge social media attention and having been seen by his school mates on the TV, Colin is mostly oblivious to furore. His mother has taken special care to tell those that do know her son to not reveal the surprise.
