Developers at the Japanese rival chat app-Line must be fuming with fury and the Chinese are taking leaps to give them competition- yes, you’ve heard it right, WeChat has now launched games worldwide now. The Game Center is located under the ‘Discover’ tab in the messaging service.
You can play these games solo, or with your friends in WeChat and even compare your scores to theirs. These games have primarily been released in China, realizing that users get bored of the games very easily and will have to roll out various games one after the other to keep up their market shares.
WeChat’s rival, Japanese messaging service Line, already offers over 30 games to its 300 million registered users worldwide, and passed 200 million game downloads in September — providing a strong case for mobile gaming within a social service.
With over 270 million active users worldwide, introducing in-app games could end up being a very fruitful venture for the company with drastic increases in the revenues.
