The new Activity Stream on Google Drive lets you keep track of changes you’ve made to files and folders

Ever find your Google Drive so cramped up with data you don’t know what information is in what file, or what changes you’ve made to what folder? If you use Google Drive to brainstorm with a team, you’ll know what i’m talking about! Looks like the folks over at Google Drive have found a solution. A whole new Activity Stream to manage changes and edits to every file or folder on your Drive.

Just click on the ‘ⓘ’ icon on the top right corner in your Drive and the Activity Stream will appear. You can then select any file or folder to see Activity specific to it.

The types of activity for files and folders that will be monitored include:

  • Moving and removing
  • Renaming
  • Uploading
  • Sharing and unsharing
  • Editing and commenting

Additionally there is a note of who made a change and which files, folders, or collaborators were affected by the change and on what date the change occurred.

Author’s Note: What disappointed me most about this feature is, that it is yet to roll out to users in India. I hope Google gets to this issue soon. This seems like an interesting feature and we’d love to get our hands on it. Guess we’ll have to wait it out!
