This, is Intel’s Edison – An SD Card sized Computer

If you think Raspberry Pi is the smallest computer, its time that you change your mind now. Intel, has come up with a super small SD card sized computer, which Intel calls a full Pentium-class PC, called Edison.

Believe it or not, the new computer comes with a dual-core Quark SOC, which is capable of running Linux. While this is on one side, Intel has managed to put a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module right into the Edison PC. This is believed to be the new class of computers which might revolutionize the way industry is traveling.

When this is too much to take, there’s more to this story. Intel Edison comes with an app store, which has reduced version of Wolfram, running on this tiny piece of computer.

Currently, the device is tailored for the developers, and for those who are willing to develop the next generation of computers. If you are a developer, who wants to mess around with this device and show the potential of the product, then its time for you to participate in the Make it Wearable project, that Intel has put up. The prize money is worth $1.3 million.

The pricing and other details were not revealed during the event at CES 2014. But the product is expected to hit the market in mid-2014.
