PrimeSense, a Microsoft Kinect based company, has reportedly been acquired by Apple for $345m

Back in 2011, we wrote an interesting article about PrimeSense, which enabled arm-moments using Microsoft Kinect. The company, which was rumored to be valued at $60m a few months back, has now been acquired by Apple for $345 million.

PrimeSense shot to fame for the technology it developed, which is the primary backbone of Xbox 360 Kinect’s motion tracking system. While Microsoft seems to have missed the ball to acquire this company earlier, its interesting to see that Apple is making this move. PrimeSense is said to be preparing for an official announcement in the coming weeks.

While it will be interesting to see what Apple would use PrimeSense’s technology for.
