This website lets you try 1984’s MacPaint online.

Ever wondered how would it feel to experience the MacPaint, the tool that Steve Jobs introduced with the original Macintosh back in 1984? Remember the epic keynote that he made, where he let the Mac speak for itself? It’s now possible with this amazing website.

CloudPaint is a new website that lets you try the MacPaint, the program which originally came pre-installed in Mac OS back in 1984. The MacPaint was developed by Bill Atkinson, a programmer at Apple in its early days, and one of the core team member in the team that Steve Jobs formed.

I’ve tried using MacPaint with a simulator in my early Macintosh days, and it worked just fine. But if you’re eager to try out this vintage application online, Cloudpaint.com is the place to go.

MacPaint’s official description is kind of cool, and the description below came along with the original Macintosh 128k manual back in 1984:

MacPaint brings out the artist in everyone. Whether it’s a technical illustration for a research project or a sketch for a party announcement, you can do it with MacPaint. You can use MacPaint’s drawing tools to draw perfectly structured shapes or your own freehand designs. You can type text in beautiful fonts, sizes, and styles and add text from other applications as well.
