Microsoft pulls off Windows 8.1 update for RT devices.

Microsoft has officially announced that they’ve pulled the Windows 8.1 update for Windows RT devices, due to an error that would not complete the update successfully.

Microsoft released the much awaited Windows 8.1 update earlier this week, and looks like the company’s testing team has under-performed for this release. The update has not been doing well with some people, and there was a report by Forbes’ Larry Magid already posted a huge post detailing the problems with the update, and how Microsoft took special care for him to fix the update process.

While I was thinking that the issues were happening with only the desktop machines, the company’s tablet devices, named the RT devices are also facing this problem. Explaining the issue, Microsoft says that they are actively investigating the issue, and thus they’ve pulled the update from their servers.

Here’s an excerpt from the statement that Microsoft published:

Windows RT 8.1. Microsoft is investigating a situation affecting a limited number of users updating their Windows RT devices to Windows RT 8.1.  As a result, we have temporarily removed the Windows RT 8.1 update from the Windows Store.  We are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.  We will provide updates as they become available.
