Google just rolled out an update to its Hangouts for iOS app, adding the ability to call any US and Canada number for free. The new update also brings the ability to share GIFs in the app.
The update rolled out today on the App Store, and the existing Google Voice users will be able to make and receive voice calls with Hangouts for iOS. Thought its free for the users to place calls for free to the US and Canada numbers, users will have to pay to make calls to other countries, just like the way Google Voice works.
The update also brings improved features like, better indicators to show who’s online and which of the users in your list are reachable at the moment. These updates were rolled out to Android earlier this month. While these are just some of the feature improvements the company has given to Hangouts for iOS. We are not sure what Google has in their sleeves for the October 24th event.
Hangouts replaced Google Talk at the Google IO earlier this year. And the app has been getting positive feedback from the users ever since it launched.
