Anki to bring Anki Drive to the masses next week for $199

Anki, the artificial intelligence and robotics company, which was featured at Apple’s WWDC 2013 back in June, is now shipping to the masses starting October 23rd.

This year’s WWDC saw one of the most unique demonstration on stage. Demoing a third-party product at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is something which is really rare. And Anki, was able to get a considerable time ahead of the keynote presentation, which showcased the power of iOS and the power of their cars which run on a special board designed by the company.

Boris Sofman, Co-Founder and CEO of Anki, demonstrated the remote controlled cars, which uses cameras, sensors and a customized on-board software that is controlled by iOS devices remotely using the latest Bluetooth LE technology. The demo mainly focused on the number of calculations that the iOS devices can perform in a fraction of a second.

Anki takes advantage of iOS and the hardware that’s inside the iPhone to control these cars with the calculations. And with Bluetooth LE technology which is present in the iPhone, the data transfer is accurate and faster than before, thus allowing the cars to act quicker than ever.

There are a lot of interesting factors that these cars have, when compared to other racing toy cars. The app that the user uses to control the cars, gives the users the power of firing imaginary engines, and other special weapons that the cars can shoot at other cars, making the game completely interactive in real-world.

This is not just another game that brings real-world gaming from an iOS device. But this clearly has a future, and is the best game to showcase the power  of mobile devices in making calculations very quickly.

Here’s a video showcasing the upcoming Anki Drive.

If you’re to buy this device, just head over to Anki’s website.
