The world’s thinnest wireless keyboard is 0.5mm thin. Comes with a large touch surface.

CSR, a Cambridge based company has developed a new keyboard which is the world’s thinnest keyboard till date. The device is just 0.5mm thick and also features a large and flexible touch surface, which users can perform tasks with ease.

CSR, along with Conductive Inkjet Technology and Atmel have come up with this keyboard. The keyboard has been just printed on a surface using the two company’s technologies. While CIT’s printed conductors constitute the keyboard’s working, Atmel’s touch silicon gives us the ability to touch the device to perform some actions. This is not all, the keyboard also has multi-touch interface which is yet another huge step forward.

The keyboard is a wireless keyboard, which uses CSR’s Bluetooth Smart solution to communicate with other devices wirelessly. With all these technologies put together, the keyboard is just 0.5mm thick, and can fit easily in any tablet’s sleeve.

Since the keyboard’s surface is super thin, and since the keyboard is wireless with a touch surface, the possibilities of making it to the masses are huge. The keyboard can be easily integrated into smart covers and other tablet covers without any hassle. The touch enabled surface can also be used to create your own drawings, which will drastically reduce the cost of getting a separate device to draw on a tablet.

But CSR has confirmed that this is just a prototype, and the keyboard will be making it to the market. We are not sure about when and at what price the keyboard will be out.
