Google brings Google+ Hashtags to Search Results

Google just announced an update to their Google+ platform which is now integrated with the regular Google Search feature letting you search for a hashtag which are from Google+.

According to the announcement, the update brings the hashtag search feature to Google Search page. This would enable the users to search Google for hashtags and see a set of relevant updates from Google+ right in the search results page.

When you search for a hasntag in Google, the users will be able to get a list of relevant posts from Google+ which are public. The results are shown towards the right side of the search results page, along with the number of +1s the posts have. The links are active and would take you to the corresponding Google+ post.

Here are the features which comes with the new update, according to Google:

– When you search on Google for a hashtag, say [#AmericasCup] or [#WaterfallWednesday], a set of relevant Google+ posts may appear to the right of regular results.
– You’ll only be able to see posts that have been shared publicly or shared with you.
– If you click on any of these posts you’ll go to Google+, where you’ll see the full set of relevant posts.
– You’ll also see links to search for these hashtags on other social sites.

Google has been trying to push Google+ to the users as much as possible, and the project has been a personal favorite to the company’s VP, Vic Gundotra. What do you think of this update?
