You can now edit posts on Facebook after sharing. Coming soon to iOS and Android apps.

Facebook rolled out a small update to its platform which now allows users to edit their posts, after sharing. The feature has been a long overdue, and finally its here.

One of the major feature differences between Facebook and Google+ was the ability to edit the posts that we already shared. Today, Facebook’s post editing feature has come to the desktop interface and will soon be rolled out to the iOS and Android apps. Previously, if you had to make some changes to a post, you should delete it and then repost the same post to correct a typo. This would ultimately lose all the likes and comments on the post which you already made.

Here’s a screenshot of the edit screen that Facebook rolled out today. I was trying to edit the text of the song I was listening to yesterday and it just worked.

To edit a post, all you have to do is just click the down arrow towards the top right corner of one of your post, and you will find the Edit option there. Clicking that just makes the post box editable, and once you are done editing, just click Done Editing. But then, what about the post revisions? Well, its always there. The post revisions can be viewed by the friends anytime.

Facebook has been hesitant in bringing this feature the its users since it might create an impact of people. And it was afraid that some of the posts could be modified to mislead people after someone comments on the posts. But thanks to the post revisions, which will always have a track of the original post which the user made.

We will keep you posted about the new feature release for the mobile devices. The company might roll out an update to the mobile devices pretty soon.
