Google ends 3 Months Netflix subscription deal for Chromecast.

I was pretty excited when Chromecast came out two days back during the ‘Breakfast with Sundar Pichai’ event at the Google’s HQ in San Francisco. And one of the thing which got me excited was the 3 months free Netflix subscription that comes along with Chromecast.

But today, Google has announced that it was not able to keep up with the overwhelming demand, and that they would end the Netflix deal for new customers who order Chromecast online. The three month subscription of Netflix is valued to be about $24, and the Chromecast dongle is being sold at $35, which is a great value for the customers.

The Netflix coupons were sent to the customers who ordered Chromecast before 1PM on the day the orders opened online. But for those who did not receive the email with Netflix subscription, its now unlikely that you’d receive them for your Chromecast dongle.

Here’s what Google confirmed to LATimes recently:

“Due to overwhelming demand for Chromecast devices since launch, the 3-month Netflix promotion (which was available in limited quantities) is no longer available,” Google told The Times in a statement.

Does this mean that Google did not expect such a huge response from the customers? Or is this a result of poor planning?
