iOS 7 and even some of the previous versions of iOS (like iOS 6) has a weird bug, which would put the app downloads in Waiting state for a long time. But then, there’s a fix for that.
Apple’s iOS 7 is in beta testing with the developers now, and the new operating system for the mobile devices has got over 1500 new API, meaning that most of the core services and architecture has been re-written. But usually, these re-writing of codes and architecture brings in a lot of new bugs. One such bug which exists as of today is the waiting status bug for the app downloads.
While there are already some good solutions like rebooting the phone and turning on the Airplane mode and then off, this solution seems to work on iOS 7 without doubt. This bug hit me when I tried to restore my iOS 6 backup in iOS 7.
Now, Let’s fix it:
- Go to App Store
- Search for the name of the app which is stuck in the Waiting state. (In my case, it was Google+ for iOS)
- Now, just tap on the Play button or the download button or the open button (Just tap on the place where the Download button would be on the App’s page)
- And now, your app should start downloading from the beginning.
Hope this helps. I have already reported this bug to Apple, and the bug has been accepted to be valid. The bug should be fixed in the next release of iOS 7 beta.
