Gmail for iOS updated. Brings Category based inbox if you have it enabled on the desktop.

Google has pushed an update to its Gmail app on iOS. The update brings in the much awaited category inbox, the ability to choose the notifications and a lot of other improvements.

Google released a new feature for the desktop with some really smart and tab-styled category inbox, and the Android version of the service received an update which is still rolling out to the public.

Today, the Gmail for iOS has got its update with all the awesomeness of the desktop version of Gmail. If you’ve got the new inbox already on the Desktop version, the new feature will be available on the Gmail for iOS app. Here’s what the new Google has to say about this rollout:

Meet the new inbox: If you’ve enabled the new inbox, your mail is now grouped into categories so that you can see what’s new at a glance and decide which emails you want to read when. Primary mail is shown first and it’s easy to access and keep track of email in other categories by opening the menu. Configure this feature by going to Gmail.com on your computer.

The best feature which I think is the ability to choose what you want to be notified of. You can choose to be notified for emails you receive on the Primary inbox or for all of the mails.

Now, without waiting, just go grab the update:
