Apple expands iWork for Web Beta access. It’s not restricted to Mac/iOS Developers alone now.

Apple has expanded its iWork for Web Beta program to any registered developer. The site is now not restricted to the Mac or iOS developers anymore.

I wrote a lengthy expectations post before WWDC 2013 went on the floor, and one of my expectation which I was sure was the answer to Google Docs from Apple. As expected, Apple unveiled the iCloud Beta, to compete with Google Docs and Microsoft Office web apps.

The web app, is just gorgeous just like any other Apple product, and the site is still in Beta. Apple opened up the Beta access only to the Developers who have a paid subscription at the Apple Developers website, which is iOS or Mac developers. But later, the company opened up access to the employees in its Payroll internally.

Now, looks like Apple has expanded the Beta program to anyone who has an account with the Apple Developers website. If you’re still not a developer, then you can just get yourself registered as a Safari developer for free, and get access to the iCloud Beta web access.

If you rely on editing some important documents, then I would suggest you to stay away from this Beta program. Apple is expected to roll out a stable version of the iWork for Web later this year.

Bringing iWork on the web is a really huge step from Apple, as it addresses the problem of accessing Pages, Numbers and Keynote documents from Windows machines or Linux machines. But now, with the iWork for the web, people can access these document types easily with their web browser.
