Things the future Generations will not see.

With changing times and advancement in technology a lot of things that were a part of the daily lives of our previous generations are slowly being replaced by their modern and advanced substitutes. The importance of many a thing is depreciating and the appreciation for such things is reducing. Many such things have already become out of place and are no more found in use by the current generation. Here’s a number of such things that have already become extinct or are rarely sighted, things which future generations will not see.

Typewriters:

Typewriters were one of the most essential tools in an official setting till computers slowly and permanently took over. It is already in the line of getting extinct. Though you can still get a glimpse of it in the storeroom of some business enterprise running for at least half a century.

Film Camera

Every household had at least one good quality film camera to capture the precious and memorable moments of their lives. But for a long time these cameras are to be seen no where. Digital cameras have made things more easy and convenient. Now you can take a picture and share it with your friends instantly in digital form itself through mail or social networking sites. Thus, the trouble and time in getting those pictures printed is often saved.

Floppy Disks

With computer gaining importance in our lives, floppy disks became important and essential too. But they failed to retain their importance for long. They were soon replaced by memory sticks which have much higher storage capacity than the floppy disks and are more convenient to carry along anywhere and everywhere.

Black and White Television

It already seems as if black and white televisions never existed. Future generation will find it unbelievable that people were glued to their black and white (and almost featureless in comparison to the current and future television models) televisions with so much love, awe and expectation.

Print Encyclopedias

Print encyclopedias were the primary and often the only source of satisfying the curious soul with information and general knowledge. We may still find one in the library or in the household of someone who is still fond of age old way of book reading, i.e., reading books in printed form. But with Google, Wikipedia and the kinds making information available at a single click, who would want to search through the pages of such heavy and fat books? For our future generation sighting one print encyclopedia itself would be a surprising and wonder-filled moment.

Cassette Recorders

Whether you had to listen to music or record your favorite song, cassette recorders always came to your rescue. However, the concept of listening to music or recording it has gone through a major change in the recent past and is still in a changing phase. As a result, cassette recorders and cassette tapes have made their exit from our lives permanently. Future generation will be as amused to see cassette recorders as we are amused when we see gramophones.

Letters

People who have received or sent hand written letters will agree that these letters have a unique charm in them. Letters written in paper and ink render a personal touch which is lacking in the modern ways of keeping in touch by emails. But the fact remains that in the fast pace of life, in the rush of today’s lifestyle no one has the time to write, send and wait for the answer back through a letter. Hence, letters are a thing of the past.

Spinning Top

A very simple toy for kids which never failed to entertain grown ups as well. But with simplicity losing its essence and technology taking over in all squares, toys are also getting advanced and complex. The humble spinning top is not as interesting to today’s kids anymore and in future kids will have no idea what a spinning top is and what enjoyment it can give to them. It is true that everything changes with time. The things that are used by former or previous generations too change with time, get more advanced, more sophisticated, more convenient to use. Every generation passes a few things to the next generation and some things lose their essence or importance with time and are not considered as worthy of passing on to the future generations. Here we have compiled a list of some such items which were of great help or enjoyment to the generation when it existed but now belong among those items that future generations will never see.
