The developer of Winky, Mike DiGiovanni has confirmed that his app would break after the non prompting update from Google for the Glass explorers.
Winky is an app that would let you take pictures using Google Glass by just winking at it. While this was considered one of the coolest hacks ever for Glass. But today, Google released the XE5 (Xplorer Edition update 5) to the Glass adopters. And interestingly, the update was not even prompted to the user.
I expected that this would break some of the tweaks that Saurik has been working on for the Glass. But then, looks like Mike’s Winky has got a hit now. Confirming this news to his followers, Mike posted:
XE5, the latest, no prompt, update to Google Glass affects Winky and Bulletproof in minor ways.
You will need to wnable on head detection again in Glass Settings. This requires a calibration process now. Then recalibrate Winky. It may have to be done in this order or I may have just been very sleepy when trying to recalibrate Winky this morning.
If you’re using Winky on your Glass, and if you’d like to re-activate it. Then you still have a way to re-activate it on your Google Glass.
