Google Glass system image released to the public. It’s now upto the Hackers to mess around with it.

Google today released the system image and the rooted bootloader of the Google Glass to the public. The factory image weighs about 332MB and is now available for download from here.

This year’s Google I/O had an interesting session on Google Glass. And that was “Voiding your warranty of Google Glass.” People from the Glass team came up on stage and explained some of the possibilities of hacking and making use of Glass on the hackers perspective. And now, in a move to encourage people to make use of Glass, the company has released the rooted system image.

But then, any hacking voids your warranty. And Google does not cover hacking under its warranty. Here’s what it says before you download the system image.

Warning: Rooting, unlocking, or flashing your Glass voids your warranty and can leave your device in an irrecoverable state. You will no longer receive OTA updates if you unlock or root your GLass. There is no guarantee that you will receive OTA updates even after flashing back to factory specifications. Proceed at your own risk.

The company earlier released the Kernel source and we broke it first. Google has also released some of the commands which would help them get access to some of the components of Glass.

Now that the code is out, I just can’t wait to see what the Glass Explorers would do with the code.
