Google axes Google Checkout for Merchant in favor of Wallet

Google has announced that the company is shutting down its Google Checkout for Merchant starting this November 20th.

Google is never stopping to bring back its energy and focus on products that really matters and make some money to the company. And I think this was evident at this year’s Google I/O, where the company introduced a lot of new Google Play Services, instead of a new Android version that people can use.

Today, with no surprise, Google is axing its Google Checkout for Merchants, to get its focus on Google Wallet. If you are a Checkout Merchant, in the US, then you might have to apply for the new Google Wallet Instant Buy service to process payments.

This year’s I/O was not only about gaining control over Android, but it was also about bringing Wallet in front of other payment services. If you’re still stuck in the Checkout, then you’ll automatically be transitioned to the Google Wallet service after November 20th 2013.

Good Bye Google Checkout.
