If you’re facing an issue where you add a Yahoo! Mail account to the Mail app on your Mac, and if the app keeps forgetting the Password of Yahoo! Mail, here’s a fix for the issue.
Some users have been facing some issues synching the Yahoo! Mail to their Mac Mail client. And the issue is pretty straight forward. Users add Yahoo! Mail account to Mail app, quit Mail or restart the machine or sleep the machine. Try to access Yahoo! Mail on Mail app, and the app prompts for a password.
The issue seems to be going endless, and the fix, is pretty simple. Let’s jump right into it now.
Fix Mail app prompting for Yahoo! Mail password:
Note: This issue seems to occur when you have your Yahoo! Mail account synced with your other iOS devices.
- On your iOS devices, Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Advanced
- Now, select the Yahoo! Account you’ve synced with the Mail on iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch and also on your Mac.
- For sometime, set the fetching option to Manual.
- You’ll have to do the above steps on all the iDevices you’ve synced your Yahoo! account with.
- Now, let’s come back to Mail on Mac, and Fetch the mails.
- After a while, the Mail app should stop asking you to enter password
This is due to the number of requests Yahoo! Server gets per account. Since you’ve set your iDevices to Push Yahoo! Mail, the requests could have gone higher than the specified limit, which we are not aware of.
However, this trick seems to have fixed the issue with Yahoo! Mail on Mail app for Mac. Hope this helps. But if you’re facing an issue on the iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch saying that the “Yahoo Server Unavailable”, then here’s the fix for that.
