This year’s Game Developers’ Conference is seeing a taste of Google. The company’s sudden announcement of these live streaming API has created an interest among the game developers, and this could push gaming a little further in the industry. While this move has come out as the company believes in videos as the most powerful tool to share gaming experiences.

According to The Verge, YouTube’s Developer Program Engineer, Ibrahim Ulukaya took the crowd for a spin explaining and previewing the API. The live streaming API will transcode the game play in real time and stream it online to the public. They have also partnered with some of the prominent game developing companies to take advantage of this API.

YouTube’s team also explained BlackOps 2 as an example and also said that this could be the chance to take the live streaming beyond desktops. This is not the first time we’re seeing such a streaming feature. But Sony has already previewed the new game streaming feature at their PlayStation 4 event.

Right now, the API has been with only a particular set of developers, but YouTube is definitely looking out to expand these gameplay streaming APIs to even more developers.
