If you think the internet is still not a huge thing in India, you’re completely wrong. A very good example to prove that the internet is playing a major part in the county is the success of the e-commerce sites like Flipkart, Redbus and BookMyShow. While the competition between the e-commerce sites are growing rapidly in India, the services are identifying possible ways to fight there rivals. One such act made by BookMyShow clearly shows the scenario.

Ticketgree, a Chennai based company, has been offering tickets for theaters, events, sports, parties and variety of other happenings in South India. Ticketgreen is also considered to be the top online entertainment ticketing portal in South India, covering more than 100 cinemas in the south. With such a huge user base and success in selling online entertainment tickets in South India, Ticketgreen has been a major competitor to BookMyShow in the South.

Talking about the new acquisition, Mr. Ashish Hemrajani, Founder and CEO of BookMyShow says:

“Acquiring Ticketgreen.com is a part of our expansion strategy to grow our footprint in the South Indian Market. This region being one of the most tech savvy markets in India, offers a huge potential for e-commerce. The acquisition has strengthened our market presence and provided the requisite local resources and talent pool to expand our presence further into Tier II & Tier III cities in South India.”

Currently, BookMyShow has got some heavy competition in India, and the recent acquisition will strengthen itself over its rivals.
