As Motorola continues to show operating losses Google has decided to lay off another 1200 employees in an effort to reduce operating costs and streamline processes.
Google’s $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola has been quite a failure with the mobile OEM showing losses of $500 million and $350 million in the third and fourth quarters of 2012 respectively. Motorola has also received high-caliber executives in an effort to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung. The company is also working on a rumoured X Phone.
These cuts are a continuation of the reductions we announced last summer. It’s obviously very hard for the employees concerned, and we are committed to helping them through this difficult transition.

The layoffs will affect workers in the U.S., China and India. Motorola has faltered every since the acquisition by Google and is no longer the glorious company it once was.
