Ubuntu for Tablets is here, and Canonical demonstrated and announced that the company is all set for this release. The new build for the Nexus tablets are coming out this Thursday, the 21st, the same day the Ubuntu Phone build would be available for the general public for testing.
Ubuntu for Tablets comes with a whole lot of new features, some of which are completely unified between the tablets and the smartphones. The OS would have support for multiple users, alone with a guest mode, which would give some limited access to the device features. Ubuntu for tablets also supports full touch screen ability, better multitasking ability, which would literally kick off the other competitors in the tablet space for multitasking for applications.
The tablet version would retain the touch and move app switching ability that Ubuntu Phone has. Interestingly, there’s also a Pinterest sharing ability, which most of the popular mobile OS platforms does not offer. Canonical has put together a complete video walkthrough of Ubuntu for Tablets.
This definitely looks exciting. And this could be the break that most of the users have been waiting for.
