SoShare by BitTorrent enables users to share files as large as 1TB

BitTorrent has just rolled out a public beta version of file sharing service SoShare.

The service is based on a browser plug-in and enables users to share files as large as 1TB in size. SoShare is specifically aimed at people in a media industry who often need to share large files. According to Director of Product Management Catherine Meek:

SoShare’s a public beta that evolved out of a simple need. As coders, designers, and content creators, we have to deliver large files on a daily basis. We’re not alone, by the way. 3.34 million Americans work in creative industries. And still: there’s no media delivery service for people who work in media. You can’t fit everything into an attachment. Syncing services have caps. Delivery services have limits.

A simple free sign up and you’re good to go. Also, people who are on the receiving end of the file need not have an account to download the file. Files shared remain live for 30 days with the option of explicitly causing them to expire whenever the uploader wishes so. Users can also create a public link for purposes of sharing over chatrooms or social networks. SoShare also allows users to pause and resume transfers while they’re taking place.
