Posterous shutting down on April 30th. Suggests users to export content to other platforms.

Posterous is shutting down. That means no more viewing or editing of content at all, period. This is what the platform’s founder, Sachin Agarwal says right now to his users.

Posterous confirmed the disastrous news today in a blogpost that they would be shutting down their service, along with all the user posts and data on April 30th. The Founder of the blogging platform, Sachin Agarwal revealed that this move is being made to shift its focus onto Twitter, rather than maintaining two platforms.

Talking about the user data, Sachin has confirmed that the blogposts made by the users will no more be accessible after April 30th, and has suggested the users to move ahead and import the user data to other platforms like WordPress and Squarespace, or to any other service, which has got Posterous importer in them.

But if you think you’re closing your doors for your blog after the service shuts down, Posterous has given an option to download or backup your data by requesting it here.

When none were guessing about the Posterous acquisition, Twitter acquired the platform, and did not mention much about what they’d be doing with the new team joining them. But today, as with most of the acquisitions, Posterous is going down. Sachin has thanked everyone for the support in the blogpost and has jumped onto Twitter.
