You’ve succeeded in jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch using the Evasi0n Jailbreak. But then, for some reason, you might want to remove the jailbreak exploit and roll back to the stock iOS. Here’s how you could do so. And this is probably the ONLY method with which you can roll back to the stock iOS firmware.
To be straight to the face, there’s NO dedicated unjailbreak tool that you could use to bring your device back to the original state. The unjailbreak process which you’re about to try is nothing but to restore your iOS device to the stock firmware using the iTunes.
I’ve already written enough tutorial about restoring your device, but now, I’m going to be removing some unnecessary steps and cut short the restore process for unjailbreaking the device. Here are some of the queries that you could get while unjailbreaking your device:
Will I lose any data while unjailbreaking (Restoring) the device?
Yes! You will. You can always take a backup of the iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch using iTunes. But then, it is highly recommended that you do a DFU restore, instead or doing a regular restore and restoring your data from the iTunes backup.
There’s also another method which you could try. Which is to restore your data from iCloud instead of restoring from iTunes. Since it would restore data which are specific to the individual apps instead or some additional files which iTunes backs up.
I’m not comfortable doing this. Can I take my device to Apple Store to get restored?
No. Apple does not support doing this. And you should have known by this time that they are probably the biggest anti-jailbreak people on the planet.
Ok. Let me restore my device now. Tell me how to do that.
Follow the below steps carefully, so that nothing goes wrong. As with any other Geek Center tutorial, this tutorial is being written with a novice user in mind.
- Plug your iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch into your Computer and Open iTunes
- Now, Make a backup of your device.
- Put your device in DFU mode:
- Press the Home and Sleep/Wake button until the devices’ screen goes off.
- Now take your finger off the Sleep/Wake button and keep holding the Home Button.
- After 15 seconds, leave the device free. And make sure its’ connected to the iTunes.
- iTunes will prompt you saying that it has found a device in DFU mode, and if you’d want to restore it.
- Make sure you’re connected to an active internet connection.
- Now, just click on the Restore Button in iTunes.
- And leave the device aside, and let iTunes take care of everything. If you are encountering an error while restoring, you could always do a search on Geek Center to get them solved.
Hope this helps!
