Previously known for being cheap and disposable, the Chromebook has now adopted a new stance. Enter the Chromebook Pixel: a high-powered high-resolution premium laptop starting at $1299.
Here are the basic specs of the Pixel:

- Integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics
- 4GB of RAM
- 12.85-inch, 2560 x 1700 touchscreen panel
- 3:2 aspect ratio
- LED backlight keyboard
- Wifi only or Wifi + LTE models
- 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage
- Two USB 2.0 jacks, Mini DisplayPort, combo 3.5mm headset jack, SD card slot
- Dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0
- 720p webcam with dual microphones
- 5 hours of battery life
The Wifi model with 32GB is up for sale in the US and will cost $1299, £1,049 for UK. The LTE model with 64GB will go for sale in April and will be priced at $1,449. With the purchase of a Chromebook Google is offering 1TB of free Google Drive storage for upto 3 years from date of purchase.
The construction and features of the Chromebook Pixel clearly indicate that it is aimed towards those who want a premium feel. Despite the great resolution and decent specs it should be noted that the device still runs on Chrome OS, which is pretty limiting for pro users.
