It’s finally here. The long rumored Apple’s iPad now comes with a 128GB Storage option. The pricing starts at $799 for the WiFi model and $929 for the LTE version of the iPad with 128GB storage space.
We thought we’d need one, looking at the increase in the size of the applications that are coming out on the App Store, right? And boy we have it now. Surprisingly, the new iPad has come out today without any event or a conference call. The new iPad with Retina Display will now be available with a 128GB Storage space starting February 5th.
The new iPad is the first device from Apple to receive this huge storage space for the customers. While the rumors arise months before the release of a product from Apple, this was pretty surprising that the rumors of the new iPad with 128GB started just days back, and the new model in infact available now.
Apple has priced the new device which is equivalent to that of the company’s MacBook. The new iPad with 128GB Storage option is priced at $799 for the WiFi model, and the LTE version is priced at $929, which I think is pretty expensive. I would suggest the LTE version of the 128GB model is recommended for users who rely on iPad extensively while on the move, and for those who use a lot (Really a lot) of applications on their device.
Apple’s Phil Schiller thinks that this move by the company would create an interest in some more customers across the globe who rely on their iPad instead of their PCs:
“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”
Now, if you are one of those who would require a lot of storage space, and would love to have the new 128GB model of the iPad, but have a WiFi network around always, then the $799 model would be your best bet. But if you are a constant traveller, and use a lot of these apps on the App Store extensively, then the LTE is for you. But then, a question would arise while comparing the price with the MacBook Air. Which costs about $999 for the basic model. Its the world’s lightest laptop from Apple right?
In the recent times, it looks like Apple has left it to the customers to choose what they need from the wide variety of options that the company is offering. May be they’re moving away from “This is what People need.” kind of attitude?
But one this is for sure from now. We’ll be seeing an additional iPad model in the Keynote presentations by Phil Schiller. So, when are the speculations for the 128GB iPhone going to start?
