iOS 6.1 Beta 5 is now out to the developers. Might be the final Beta release.

Apple today released the next beta of iOS 6.1, which is Beta 5 to the developers. The update is not available via OTA update, but is only downloadable via the Developer Site. There are also some hints that this might be the final beta for the release. If that happens to be true, we might expect an event pretty soon.

If you are a registered developer with Apple, you should have seen a new build for iOS 6.1, which would carry the Beta 5 tag. The new update has rolled out to the developers today, with not much known issues. The new update generically carries improvements to Maps and also some UI enhancements.

The iOS 6.2 Beta 5 is not available via Over-The-Air update, and if you need to try the new build, you’ve gotta download the IPSW from the developer site, and update the device via iTunes or Xcode.

The beta builds are intended ONLY for the developers and not for the general users. The beta builds usually have some bugs that would be squashed when the final release comes out to the end users. As always, the users will be able to update via OTA update, without requiring iTunes or Xcode.

The final release, might also hint at an event that Apple might be hosting shortly for the release of this update and also for some new unveilings. Or, it could also come out just like any other update.
