How to take a picture while recording video on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch?

It is indeed possible to do that on your iOS device. You can take a picture while recording a beautiful video on your iPhone or iPod Touch or iPad. Here’s a quick tutorial on how you could do that.

Until recently, I never knew that this was possible on iOS devices. It was in my cousin’s marriage reception that I came across this situation, where I wanted to take a picture, while shooting a video. But thanks to the tip, and Apple was not dump in doing this.

While recording a video on your iOS device, you’d have wondered why the camera icon is popping out on the top corner of the screen. And now, we know that its existing there for a purpose. While many other manufacturers market this as a feature, Apple has left it to the users to figure things out themselves.

How to take a picture while shooting a video on your iOS device?

  1. Open the camera app and switch to the video mode.
  2. Now start recording the video, and you’ll find a camera icon at the top corner of your screen.ios-take-picture-while-recording-video
  3. Just tap on that icon, and the device would have captured a photograph and saved it to the camera roll.

It’s that simple.

Not true. I have an iPhone 4, an iPad 3 and an iPad Mini. None of them can do that. All that shows at the top of the screen is the recording timer.
