BlackBerry Announces the Z10

Newly christened firm BlackBerry (not RIM) have just released the Z10 smartphone. We’ve been hearing rumours of this device for quite sometime now so the revelation might not be as exciting as RIM expected it to be.

BlackBerry have not announced any internal hardware details yet but we do know that the devices features a 4.2-inch high resolution display, 356ppi high to be precise. This is the Canadian company’s first shot at a full touch-screen phone and will come in black and white.

The device looks pretty good from where we’re seeing it although we wouldn’t go as far as calling it awesome without a closer inspection. However, the soul of the phone is what the story is really about. From what we can gather BB10 looks pretty clean and elegant so far.

RIM BlackBerry haven’t given us any word about pricing or availability. We’ll keep you posted on whatever we hear/see…

Update 1: The presentation device seems to have 13GB of internal storage with support for a microSD card slot. Looks like we have 16GB internal memory, expandable via microSD cards.

Update 2: The phone will go on sale in the UK and Canada later this week while the US will have to wait till March. The phone will cost $199.99 on contract.

Update 3: We finally get some specifics. “By the end of February, we will be completing lab testing with 110 carriers worldwide.”, still no concrete dates. As for Canada the device will go on sale on February 5th with a price tag of $149.99 on a three-year contract. It’ll go on sale in the UK with a wide range of carriers starting tomorrow.

Update 4: The device is powered by a 1.5Ghz dual core processor with 2GB RAM. Comes with a 2MP and 8MP front and real camera and 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 come standard.
