A new website has popped out, which highlights all the rubbish and meaningless apps that are existing on the Windows 8 Store.
Microsoft launched the Windows 8 store to the public a few months back, supporting apps for the new Windows 8 range of products and to compete with its rivals OS. To do this, the company has made it really simple for any Tom, Dick and Harry to publish apps on the Windows 8 Store, making it a much unpleasant experience for the user with a lot of rubbish and unhealthy apps for the app store ecosystem.
With various corporate and college centric programs, Microsoft has been encouraging the developers in those programs to publish apps to the market, for almost no-cost for registrations, and a lot of giveaways. The company also pushed out some offers for developers, who could get a Windows based freebie for publishing their app on the store, under certain criteria. This not only led to apps that are of no-quality, but also making the ecosystem a unhealthy place for the users. Its so bad to see apps that just displays tweets from some of the celebrities, which any users with or without a twitter account can view on the web, or via the any Twitter app. These kinds of apps does not add any value for both the developers, and the users or the ecosystem itself.
Apple’s Mac App Store also has such kind of apps, but they go unnoticed a lot of times and moreover, they do not carry such a very poor quality application in their ecosystem, whatsoever. Does this mean that Apple’s closed ecosystem absolutely wins the mobile app store market? And in my view, looking at these kind of dump apps in the market, Yes, the closed system does win over the open system, which fails to provide quality of the applications that exist in the store, and also taking a huge hit at the user experience of the platform.
