Here’s a quick tutorial to get back the sidebar on the iTunes 11 to view your device and sync it with the iTunes library. Just like how you’ve been doing for years together with iTunes.
Apple released the iTunes 11 recently, and its been getting a lot of positive reviews. But then, some users, like my mom, might find it difficult to find their devices in the iTunes to sync with the library.
The bold new minimalistic design, hides the regular sidebar, which we’ve been using primarily until the new iTunes. But there are also some reviews saying that enabling the new sidebar is making the iTunes 11 look like how it was before. Which I think is partially true.
Ok. Now, let’s jump right into the tutorial and see how you can enable the Sidebar and bring back the device options in the sidebar like before.
How to sync iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch with iTunes 11?
- Fire up iTunes 11 (It has got a matte finished new icon, isn’t it?)
- Now, Go to the View menu and click Show Sidebar
- And, you’re done. Now connect your device, and boom, it shows up there just like before.
I think the new syncing screen is pretty brilliant, and you can now hover your mouse over the storage analysis which shows at the bottom to get some more information about the kind of media that’s been occupying some space in your device.
Update: There’s also another way to sync your device without viewing the Sidebar. Looks like Apple is preparing to get rid of the sidebar completely. When you connect a device, it’s going to show the device name at the top right corner of the iTunes 11 screen. Like this:
